On Sunday, October 11, Carnegie Science Observatories welcomes one and all to its annual Open House from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm—a great chance to enjoy the cooler-season temperatures while chatting one-on-one with astronomers and scientists.
Every October, Carnegie Science Observatories opens its doors to the public for a day of all-ages astronomical discovery and fun in the Sun. A bevy of hands-on activities will keep visitors—young and old—busy, while free, fruity paletas will satisfy those with a sweet tooth.
Activities include visiting the machine shop to discover how telescope instruments are made, viewing the Sun through a solar telescope, toasting marshmallows using the Sun’s rays, and making your own constellation through other astronomy-themed crafts.
Two of the most popular attractions are the 3D visualization wall and the “Ask an Astronomer” table, where visitors can bring questions about stars, planets, quasars, black holes, galaxies, and more.
Free tickets are available to book online now for this popular annual event, which promises to expand your cosmic horizons.
