The program will spotlight women writers featured in the exhibition, which draws from The Huntington’s literary archives to explore the private lives and creative work of women authors across two centuries.
The evening opens from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, when attendees can check in with Education staff at Admission window #10 to receive a complimentary beverage ticket. Guests will also be able to enjoy light refreshments and in-gallery conversations with exhibition curator Sarah Francis.
Readings begin at 6:30 pm and continue through 7:15 pm, featuring appearances by Eloise Klein Healy, Velina Hasu Houston, Monique Thomas on behalf of Octavia E. Butler, and Louise Hornby for Charlotte Brontë.
At 7:20 pm, electronic pop duo YACHT will perform a musical set inspired by the work of author and artist Eve Babitz. The event concludes at 8:00 pm.
Veteran Los Angeles Times journalist Patt Morrison, whose signature red hat is included in the exhibition, will serve as master of ceremonies for the evening.
Tickets are $45 and available online. Registration includes one complimentary drink, while a cash bar will also be available. Admission to The Huntington is not included with registration. Although The Huntington will be closed to the general public during the program, ticketed participants will have access to the event and exhibition galleries.
