On Friday night, Cal Fire updated its data, reporting 100 percent containment. Following the full containment of the Eaton Fire, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger issued a statement expressing gratitude to the first responders and emergency personnel who worked tirelessly to control the blaze.
“I am incredibly grateful to the courageous firefighters, first responders, and emergency personnel who worked tirelessly to contain the Eaton Fire. Their hard work and perseverance is world class,” Barger said in the statement.
While the fire is now fully contained, Barger emphasized that her focus remains on recovery efforts, supporting affected communities, and addressing future fire risks. She stressed the importance of collaborating with local, state, and federal partners to ensure resources are in place to help communities rebuild and prepare for future wildfire threats.
Barger concluded by highlighting the critical lessons learned from the fire. “The Eaton Fire has taught us all that we must remain vigilant and prepare for the unimaginable,” she stated, reaffirming her commitment to strengthening the county’s response and resilience against future wildfires.
Rebuilding may take several years. For many, the recovery process began this week as crews from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began clearing hazardous debris from fire-affected areas.
