Eaton Canyon experienced a surge in visitors over the past year that prompted officials to close it and then open it with timed reservations.
By News Desk
At an Eaton Canyon Operations Update community meeting on the evening of Thursday, May 20, changes to the reservation system were introduced:
Effective June 1, 2021, the reservations system will be removed, and the Midwick and Pinecrest access points will be reopened. The main gate will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, while access points will be open 24/7 as they were before the pandemic.
All fencing added back in June 2020 in response to COVID-19 will be removed allowing visitors to park by the main gate on Mondays and Tuesdays and walk into the park (no parking is allowed inside the parking lot on those two days).

As of June 1 the temporary fences are still in place. What’s your source that the reservations will all end?

How wonderful! As much as I enjoyed Eaton Canyon with and without the reservations, i really hope those social hikers leave the place clean. Reservations were great as it controlled the crowd, but it was inconvenient at times especially when you’d like to hike and find the reservations are full. However, I still enjoyed my daily (as long as they were open) hikes. ^_^
Hi Marichelle
It is Judy. I tried going starting from the bridge today. June 1st but it is still locked. Hopefully they will remove the lock today
Thank God! I really missed being able to look out the window on a lovely morning and being able to take a spur of the moment walk at nearby Eaton Canyon.
most people are cool, but hopefully the dirtbags won’t leave their trash around
Finally I can enter our wonderful canyon anytime I want.
