The Director of Public Health, Manuel Carmona, has selected Dr. Parveen Kaur to serve as the next Health Officer at the Pasadena Public Health Department (PPHD).

Dr. Kaur has been serving as Acting Health Officer since 2023 and will continue to provide medical direction to clinical programs, issue public health policy and guidance, and coordinate with regional, statewide, and federal officials to safeguard the community’s health.
An Infectious Disease Specialist with more than 25 years of medical experience, Dr. Kaur has held leadership roles with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Since 2021, she has served as Pasadena’s Tuberculosis Controller and as a physician at the PPHD Tuberculosis Clinic.
“Dr. Kaur continues to demonstrate exceptional public health expertise and leadership skills,” said Manuel Carmona, Director of Public Health. “Her experience and dedication to our community have made a meaningful impact and remain critical to protecting public safety and advancing public health in Pasadena.”
During her tenure as Acting Health Officer, Dr. Kaur developed public health guidance and policy during the Eaton Fire recovery and led efforts to reduce the risk of ongoing and emerging infectious diseases.
