Editor’s Note: Are you looking for the source of military flyover on July 19, 2022, at 4:30 pm? They were for the All Star Game at Dodger Stadium!

Residents of Pasadena, Altadena, and La Cañada Flintridge, if you see fighter planes flying overhead on Monday, March 4, 2019, don’t be alarmed.

      By Kent Matsuoka

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will be performing two flyovers over Caltech, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the Santa Monica Pier, Pepperdine University, Hollywood and Santa Clarita.

The Thunderbirds will be doing a practice run at approximately 12:15 pm and another at approximately 5:30 pm to coincide with the LA premiere of Captain Marvel at the El Capitan. (Hollywood Boulevard will be closed from Orange to Highland for the event).

The fly over in Santa Clarita is in honor of Major Stephen “Cajun” Del Bagno, a Saugus High graduate who was lost in a crash over the Nevada Test and Training Range last year. The late Del Bagno served as a technical advisor, training Brie Larson for her role on Captain Marvel.

If you happen to be outside, make sure to look up and witness two great shows in the afternoon.

Waited at the Santa Monica pier at 12:15 PM and it was a no-show. The weather was perfect so that wasn’t it. I then came back for the 530 flyover and again it was a no-show. What happened?. A lot of disappointed people.

          Hi Mary,

They had a last minute modification to their itinerary and ended up skipping few cities. You can see a video of their mid-noon flyover on our Facebook page.

          You have a wonderful evening.

Where is your office. Guaranteed that they did not appear over JPL .area between noon and 1pm. Are they still planned to fly at 5pm? I will be looking.

We are based in Downtown Pasadena. They’re still scheduled to fly over around 5:30 pm.
              Thank you.

The noon flyover was canceled due to weather. Not sure who flew over your offices. I did see a squadron of prop planes fly over head, bu not near JPL.

                Hi Gayle,
Not sure if the JPL route was cancelled. If you check our Facebook page, you’ll see a video taken by ABC’s helicopter of the 1st flyover.
                Have a nice evening.

Picky, picky, I know … but 12:15 PM is afternoon, not morning, so neither flyover will be in the morning. Whatever – it;s still gonna be worth seeing!
