Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger is urging Altadena business owners to enroll in the free “Shop Local Marketing Lab+” initiative before registration closes June 24.

Marketing Lab+ is a business support program led by the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) in partnership with Google and SoCal Grantmakers. The initiative is designed to help small businesses affected by the Eaton Fire rebuild their visibility, strengthen customer engagement, and support economic recovery.
“Small businesses are the heart of Altadena, and they deserve ongoing support as they work to recover from the Eaton Fire,” Barger said. “This program delivers customized marketing assistance — the kind that helps businesses attract customers and build toward a stronger future. If you own a small business in Altadena, today is the day to sign up.”
The program provides individualized assistance through two service tracks. Digital marketing support includes website development, social media content creation, video marketing campaigns, targeted advertising, search engine optimization, branding assistance and professional photography.
Businesses may also receive physical storefront improvements designed to increase visibility and enhance curb appeal. Available improvements include custom signage, painted murals and decorative awnings.
County officials said services provided through the program will continue through summer 2026.
To qualify, businesses must be located and operating in Altadena, demonstrate financial impact from the Eaton Fire and operate from a brick-and-mortar commercial location. Businesses with fewer than 100 employees and less than $6 million in annual revenue are encouraged to apply.
Depending on their previous participation in county programs, some applicants may be able to complete enrollment online, while others may be required to finish the process in person at the Altadena One Stop Permit Center, located at 464 W. Woodbury Road in Altadena.
