Temperatures will reach the mid- to upper 90s Tuesday, with a high near 96 degrees. There is a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Winds will remain light, shifting from north-northwest to west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

The most intense heat is expected Wednesday, when sunny skies and temperatures near 100 degrees are forecast. Heat index values could reach 114 degrees, creating an elevated risk of heat-related illness, particularly for older adults, young children, outdoor workers and people with underlying health conditions.

Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with a low near 70 degrees. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy and mild, with temperatures again falling to around 70.

A gradual cool-down is expected later in the week. Thursday will be sunny, with a high near 94 degrees, followed by mostly clear skies and a low around 68. Friday will be sunny and somewhat cooler, with a high near 91 degrees and an overnight low around 64.

Residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of water and check on vulnerable neighbors, friends and family members. Never leave children, older adults or pets unattended in a parked vehicle, even for a short time.
