Located at 235 Barthe Drive, Brenner Park is a valued neighborhood recreation destination that features athletic courts, a baseball field, open green space, and playground facilities. The project will transform an underutilized area of the park into a modern playground designed to better serve children and families in the surrounding community.
The improvements include the installation of new age-appropriate play equipment, rubberized safety surfacing, upgraded site furnishings, accessibility enhancements, and new shade structures. The project also includes the demolition and removal of existing concrete shade structures, relocation of picnic tables, and other related site improvements.
City officials said the playground design reflects community input received during the planning process, including strong support for creating a play area in a more central and accessible location within the park. The new playground is intended to provide an inviting space where children and families can gather, play, and connect.
Construction activities are scheduled to occur Monday through Friday during standard construction hours and are anticipated to be completed in September 2026.
During construction, the existing playground on the Chapman Avenue side of the park will remain open for public use. The park’s basketball court, tennis court, baseball field, and other amenities will also remain accessible throughout the project.
Once completed, the new playground will provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging recreational environment for children of all ages while further enhancing one of Pasadena’s neighborhood parks.
