These funds would allow the city to renovate Smith Park and Smith Park Pool. The final site plan detailing project improvements will be presented on Wednesday, January 20 at 6:30 pm.

Whether you are new to the project or have previously submitted your ideas, the city is urging you to attend this final community meeting.

The primary elements of the current concept plan include:

      • A new pool and locker room.
      • A dedicated Pickleball Court.
      • An expanded walking path.
      • Enhanced lighting.
      • New Water Refill Stations.
      • Interpretive signage and public art.

If they receive it they should also consider fixing the handball courts. It was greatly appreciated that they put the sand paper filling on the floors but that was a band aid fix. The court floors need a complete resurfacing. The floors are uneven in every court, holes and bumps that are just as visible now as they were before. The local handball players have at times brought their own materials to fix gaps.

Aside from the walls, they should consider putting new fence at the top, perhaps a difference fence too, the one with smaller holes to prevent balls from going through.

Also add the green cover that’s used on tennis courts.

The handball courts have been receiving usage for decades from a dedicated group of people who even after Covid still show up. These guys have been here when the walls were fist erected and will continue playing till their last day. They mean a lot to many.

If anyone is planning on going to this event, please forward this for me, I unfortunately have to work.
