As summer approaches, the City of Alhambra is bringing back the annual Summer Food Service Program, aimed at ensuring that children aged 1-18 have access to nutritious meals during the summer break.

      By News Desk

The program, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the City of Alhambra’s Parks & Recreation Department, is set to begin on May 28, 2024 and run through August 2, 2024.

“We are excited to once again offer the Summer Food Service Program to the children of Alhambra,” said Mayor Ross J. Maza. “This program plays a vital role in our community by providing nutritious meals to children who may otherwise go without during the summer break. We are committed to ensuring that all children have access to healthy food options year-round.”

The Summer Food Service Program will provide lunch and snacks on a first come, first served basis Monday through Friday at the following designated sites and times:

      • Almansor Park
        Lunch: 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
        Snack: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
      • Alhambra Park
        Lunch: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
        Snack: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
      • Granada Park
        Lunch: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
        Snack: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

In addition to lunch and snacks, the program will also incorporate recreational activities including free weekly raffles, games and activities.

For more information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at (626) 570-5081.
