The City Council recognized the Alhambra High School Academic Decathlon Team this week, celebrating an impressive season marked by hard work, resilience, and standout achievements.

      By News Desk

For the third consecutive year, the team earned first place in the Annual Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon, reaffirming their position as one of the region’s top academic programs.

Their success continued at the state level, where the team secured sixth place in the California State Finals—an accomplishment that highlights their commitment to scholastic excellence and their ability to compete among the best in the state.

Councilmembers praised the students for their perseverance, discipline, and dedication throughout the season. They also commended the leadership and guidance of Coach Sanchez and Assistant Coach Gonzalez, whose support has helped shape the team’s ongoing success.

Congratulations to the AHS 2026 Academic Decathlon Team members, Coach Sanchez, and Assistant Coach Gonzalez on another remarkable year.
