      WASHINGTON, D.C. — ColoradoBoulevard.net:

On July 29, the United States House of Representatives passed the historic Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2022, which would restore and update the assault weapons ban that was previously enacted in 1994 but expired in 2004.

      By News Desk

Currently, there are no federal laws restricting the sales of semiautomatic weapons or large capacity ammunition feeding devices. The passage of this landmark legislation comes just weeks after President Biden signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law, marking the first time in nearly 30 years Congress has passed significant gun control legislation.

      Rep. Judy Chu said:

Today was a momentous step forward in curbing the gun epidemic this country has faced for far too long. We have had over 300 mass shootings this year alone — ripping apart communities and destroying the lives of American families. This legislation makes it clear: weapons of war have no place in our streets, schools, grocery stores, salons, churches, shopping malls or at parades.

Congress has the ability to end these disturbing upward trends in gun violence and I am strongly urging my Senate colleagues to emerge from their partisan corners and support this life-saving legislation.
