Pasadena Public Library is celebrating the power of reading with the annual Summer Reading Program scheduled from Saturday, June 8, through Saturday, July 27, at all Pasadena libraries.
By News Desk
This summer’s theme, “Read, Renew, Repeat,” encourages participants to explore reading as a restorative method of self-improvement and self-preservation. The program fosters community, aids children in knowledge and skill retention and encourages the importance of lifelong learning. Summer is a crucial time; developing reading habits throughout the summer is a critical step in combatting summer learning loss and reducing the achievement gap between high-low socioeconomic statuses.
Throughout the seven-week program children, teens, and adults participate in activities centered around reading, restoration, reducing waste and rejuvenating habits to complete bingo cards and earn prizes. Participants are invited to sign up online at Pasadena.Beanstack.Com/Reader365 or visit one of the 10 branch libraries to sign up in person. This program is sponsored by The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library.
As a part of the Summer Reading Program, the Pasadena Public Library offers several performances, programs, storytimes, workshops, and more.
The 103-year-long tradition of hosting the Summer Reading Program is currently operating with reduced programming due to the closure of Central Library. The Pasadena Central Library is poised for essential earthquake repairs and safety enhancements vital for reopening our historic landmark. The project will ensure a safe, accessible hub for learning and connection.
