The four cyclists on Team PUSD completed the 100-mile Cool Breeze ride on August 20th, woo hoo!
By Scott Phelps
The team was led by former collegiate cyclist, PUSD parent Paul Nerenberg, and another advanced rider Jonna Winnicki (a substitute rider for the injured Felix Orona, husband of PUSD Administrative Services Manager Diane Orona).
The team was rounded out by former PUSD central office staffer and avid rider Mike Hendricks—who is also a former superintendent of the South Pasadena and Charter Oak school districts—and (yours truly) PUSD Board Member Scott Phelps.
We had a great time in the cool coastal air of the Ventura and Santa Barbara area and helped each other keep going all the way to the finish!
On the fundraising front, there is good news to report. Forty-five generous donors contributed $6880 to the Pasadena Educational Foundation for PUSD athletics programs!!! Each of the four high school programs in PUSD will receive $1720 towards their many unfunded needs.
Thank you, thank you all for your generosity in funding this endeavor! And thanks to Executive Director Patrick Conyers and staff at Pasadena Education Foundation for facilitating these donations and thanking the wonderful donors!
We hope to make it an annual event!
