While Tuesday marked St. Patrick’s Day itself, celebrations of Celtic culture don’t have to end there. Fans of traditional Irish music will have the chance to keep the spirit alive with an upcoming performance by the acclaimed band Lúnasa in Pasadena.

Named after an ancient Celtic harvest festival honoring the Irish god Lugh, Lúnasa was formed in 1997 by members of some of the most prominent Irish groups of the previous decade. Early praise from Folk Roots magazine dubbed the ensemble an “Irish music dream team,” and the group quickly gained a reputation for pushing the boundaries of traditional music with intricate arrangements and a distinctive sound.
Over the years, critical acclaim has only grown. The Irish Echo once called them “the hottest Irish acoustic band on the planet,” while MOJO magazine hailed them as “the new gods of Irish music.” Billboard added that their music is simply “contagious” to listeners.
With more than a quarter-million records sold and over 2,500 performances across 36 countries, Lúnasa has become one of the most influential acts in the history of traditional Irish music, earning multiple awards along the way.
The band is set to perform at 7:30 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Tickets are available through Eventbrite, with advance pricing at $44.52 for adults and $12.51 for Caltech students and younger attendees through high school.
The event is organized by the Pasadena Folk Music Society, a volunteer-run group that has spent four decades bringing high-quality music to the community at accessible prices.
For those looking to extend their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, the concert offers a vibrant continuation of Irish musical tradition well beyond the holiday.
