Camerata Pacifica has been named Chamber Music America’s 2026 Ensemble of the Year, recognizing its artistic excellence, innovation and leadership following the completion of its 36th season.

The honor was announced by Chamber Music America CEO Kevin Kwan Loucks, who praised the ensemble’s impact on musicians and audiences over nearly four decades. He also highlighted Camerata Pacifica’s Nightingale Channel initiative, which brings classical music to patients and caregivers in healthcare settings, calling it a visionary example of audience engagement.
Founder and Artistic Director Adrian Spence said the award reflects the collective efforts of the ensemble’s musicians, staff, board members, audiences and supporters. He said Camerata Pacifica remains committed to expanding the reach of chamber music while fostering a vibrant artistic community.
Known for its adventurous programming, Camerata Pacifica presents annual residencies in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Marino and Thousand Oaks. The ensemble has commissioned more than 20 new works from established and emerging composers, with additional commissions underway from Howard Frazin and Niloufar Nourbakhsh.
Community outreach has become a defining part of Camerata Pacifica’s mission. Developed in partnership with UCLA Health in 2021, The Nightingale Channel streams performances to patients and caregivers in hospitals. The program has since been adopted by UCLA Health, UC Davis Health, Keck Medicine of USC, Loma Linda University Medical Center, City of Hope National Medical Center and Augusta University Health, with plans to expand to additional hospitals nationwide.
