Five California colleges and universities have earned spots in LinkedIn’s second annual Top Colleges rankings, which recognize the 50 U.S. undergraduate institutions that best position graduates for long-term career success.

Among the California schools recognized were two Southern California institutions: the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), ranked No. 31, and the University of Southern California (USC), ranked No. 33. They joined Stanford University (No. 10), the University of California, Berkeley (No. 29), and Claremont McKenna College (No. 40).
The rankings include a diverse mix of institutions, from private research universities and public flagship campuses to specialized science and engineering schools and liberal arts colleges.
Claremont McKenna was one of seven schools nationwide making its debut on the list this year.
Nationally, Princeton University claimed the top spot, followed by Duke University, Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dartmouth College.
LinkedIn based its rankings on several measures tied to graduates’ career outcomes, including job placement, recruiter interest and the strength of alumni professional networks.
