This dish is the perfect addition to your Thanksgiving feast.

      By Julia McWilliams

Enjoy a “Brussels Sprouts with Pecans” dish that is full of sweet, buttery flavors that will mellow the bite of the Brussels sprouts. (Just make sure to slice the sprouts to cut down on their cooking time.)

      Ingredients:

      • 1 cup chopped organic onion
      • 2 teaspoons organic butter
      • 4 organic garlic cloves, thinly sliced
      • 8 cups halved and thinly sliced organic Brussels sprouts (about 1 1/2 pounds)
      • 1/2 cup fat-free, less-sodium organic chicken broth
      • 1 1/2 tablespoons organic sugar
      • 1/2 teaspoon salt
      • 8 teaspoons coarsely chopped organic pecans, toasted
      • 1 Avocado (doesn’t have to be organic*).

      Preparation

      1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-to-high heat.
      2. Add onion and garlic: Sauté 4 minutes or until lightly browned.
      3. Stir in Brussels sprouts: Sauté 2 minutes.
      4. Add broth and sugar: cook 5 minutes or until liquid almost evaporates, stirring frequently.
      5. Stir in salt. Sprinkle with pecans and chopped avocado.

      Bon Appétit.

*Avocados have thick skin so you can save money by buying non-organic.
