Bomb Threat Prompts Emergency Response at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena

A bomb threat targeting Huntington Hospital prompted a large emergency response Friday morning, leading authorities to search the campus and temporarily divert emergency patients while they investigated the situation.

According to city officials, the threat was reported shortly before 6:00 am Friday, August 7. The call was allegedly made by an extremist group known to law enforcement. Pasadena police officers, firefighters and K-9 units responded to conduct a thorough search of the hospital campus.

As a precaution, emergency patients were diverted to nearby hospitals during the investigation. Hospital officials also implemented additional screening procedures while authorities worked to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff.

At approximately 9:15 am, officials declared the hospital all clear after an extensive search found no evidence of a bomb. No injuries were reported.

Police later reopened California Boulevard between Pasadena Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue, stating there was no ongoing police activity and no action was required by the public.

Hospital officials said the facility remained open to patients and staff throughout the investigation despite the heightened security measures.

Authorities have not released additional details about the nature of the threat or identified the group allegedly responsible. The investigation remains ongoing.

Earlier Friday morning, Huntington Hospital acknowledged the incident in a social media post, saying it was responding to a threat.
