Pasadena City Officials today announced they have canceled the 35th Annual Black History Month Parade scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 for public safety reasons due to predictions of a significant storm moving into the area, including possible lightning strikes in or near the parade route.
The public’s safety, including those who would watch the parade and the parade participants, was the deciding factor to cancel the parade for Feb. 18.
Re-schedule
City officials are looking to re-scheduled the parade to an alternative date, but no decision has been made yet for a new date and time.
The City, and through a press release, stated that “Pasadena is very proud of its Black History Month Parade, and all related Black History Month events.” The City thanked the public for their understanding and patience.
The parade is one of the oldest, longest-running parades of its kind in California.
