The Black Education Expo, founded by Victoria Williams, will return Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Pasadena Convention Center, offering a free education event for K-12 students, families, community members and educators in Southern California.

The event will feature more than 70 resources, Google AI literacy, wellness programming, college and career pathways, free books and a complimentary bus from South Los Angeles. Admission is free and open to the public.

Co-presented by Pasadena Councilmember Tyron Hampton, the expo is described as a Southern California education movement connecting families and educators with resources designed to help generations thrive.

This year, Los Angeles City Council District 8, We Grow LA, Education Is Key and Mor Girls With Goals are providing a complimentary bus from South Los Angeles. Attendees can board at 9:00 am at the Chase Community Center on Crenshaw for transportation to the expo.

“Access is at the heart of BEE,” Williams said. “It’s not enough for great resources to exist — we have to make sure families can actually get to them and know they’re available. When community organizations, educational institutions and businesses bring their resources together, we can create something much bigger for families.”

The Expo Hall will bring together colleges, employers, educational organizations, health and wellness providers and community organizations.

The Teen Zone will include an AI literacy workshop presented by Google, mental health and resilience programming, a teen-led career panel and college access information. The Wellness Zone will offer mental and physical wellness resources and “Know Your Numbers” screenings, including blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings.

Parents can visit the Parent Zone for financial wellness, scholarships, college pathways and family engagement resources. The Educator Lounge, hosted by the Black Educator Advocates Network, will offer educators a place to connect and recharge, beginning with a restorative sound bath with Coach LaLa, courtesy of STARS.

The BEE Joy Zone, presented by the California Black Women’s Collective Empowerment Institute with support from Russell Westbrook’s Why Not? Foundation, will feature free books, face painting, family games and other intergenerational activities.

At noon, Dr. Ray Cunningham of UNCF Los Angeles will host a program in the Expo Hall featuring raffles, partner highlights and a celebration of the BEE community.

BEE is still welcoming partners for the Oct. 3 expo. Organizations and companies interested in supporting the event can contact info@blackeducationexpo.com.
