Beverly Marksbury, a long-time volunteer with nonprofit institutions, has been appointed to the Pasadena Senior Center board of directors.

      By News Desk

For many years she has provided leadership to the boards of directors of Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Colburn School and Pasadena Humane Society. She also has volunteered with the San Marino League and Tiffany Circle of the American Red Cross.

Marksbury’s professional career spanned 38 years with the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Superior Court and U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco. During that period, she developed a grants program that exceeded $15 million to promote and fund court programs and increase access to justice, directed new courthouse construction in Monterey Park with a budget of $300 million and managed the development and implementation of an automated criminal records system and streamlined juror usage. She was a peer review panel member for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance for 15 years.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and master’s degree from USC.

“We are very privileged to have someone with such impeccable credentials serve on our board,” said Akila Gibbs, executive director of the Pasadena Senior Center. “Beverly Marksbury will bring her many years of fundraising expertise to the table and will join other board members in leading the center into the future.”
