A beloved Mexican folktale is coming to life in Pasadena this April as The Lizard & El Sol takes the stage for two free performances each day during the first two weekends of the month at Playhouse Village Park. Adapted from Alma Flor Ada’s cherished story, the production follows a small but fearless lizard determined to bring back the missing sun.

With live music, bold visuals, and a heartwarming message about perseverance and community, the show offers a joyful first theater experience for young audiences. Its creators describe it as a celebration of the light each person brings into the world.

Presented primarily in Spanish, the performance is designed to be fully enjoyed and understood by both Spanish and non-Spanish speakers. The bilingual storytelling invites families of all backgrounds to share in the adventure.

With its blend of cultural storytelling, vibrant staging, and family-friendly accessibility, The Lizard & El Sol promises to brighten springtime in Pasadena, much like the sun its tiny hero sets out to find.
