Caltech’s annual Bandorama celebration returns to Ramo Auditorium on May 8–9, bringing together the Caltech Wind Orchestra and the Caltech Jazz Band for a two‑night musical showcase spanning more than a century of wind and jazz tradition.

      By News Desk

The Caltech Wind Orchestra, directed by Dr. Glenn D. Price, will present a program titled From Classics to Contemporary, pairing two pillars of historic wind literature, Percy Grainger and Gustav Holst, with two of today’s most influential voices in the medium, Philip Sparke and Frank Ticheli. The program highlights the evolution of wind music from early 20th‑century masterworks to the vibrant, rhythmically driven compositions shaping the field today.

Sharing the stage, the acclaimed Caltech Jazz Band, under the direction of Barb Catlin, will perform a dynamic set featuring works by jazz legends Tito Puente, Bob Mintzer, Thad Jones, Chucho Valdés, and Gordon Goodwin. The concert will also include an original composition by Caltech graduate student Phil Kocheril, adding a contemporary student voice to the lineup.

Admission is free, and no tickets or registration are required. More information is available at this link or by emailing hschoe@caltech.edu.
