Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to be part of The Tonight Show during Johnny Carson’s 30-year reign as host?
By News Desk
Barbara Meltzer was the assistant to the producer of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson for 10 years – eight in New York City and two in Los Angeles – during Carson’s 30-year reign as host of the iconic late-night talk show from 1962 to 1992.
Meltzer will be in conversation onsite at the Pasadena Senior Center with Annie Laskey, the center’s director of events, Thursday, Aug. 24, at 2:00 pm for what Laskey anticipates will be a fun and fascinating behind-the-scenes look at television history. An audience Q&A will follow the conversation.
Anyone 50 and older is welcome to attend. To register for this free event or for more information, visit this website or call 626-795-4331. Neither membership with the Pasadena Senior Center nor residence in Pasadena are required to attend.
After leaving The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Meltzer became director of NBC-TV’s Creative Services Department in Los Angeles and, several years later, executive in charge of talent for PBS’s KCET-TV. In more recent years she has been the founder and president of Barbara Meltzer & Associates Public Relations & Marketing. One of the agency’s divisions serves the public relations and marketing needs of clients whose services, products, and programs are targeted to adults 50 and older.
