As a public outreach, Astronomers from Caltech are presenting a series of talks in Old Pasadena.
By Sharon Hawley
It’s a mix of beer, burgers, rock music, socializing, and fun, with serious looks into dark matter, dark energy, and other elusive sightings far, far away. I attended the one on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Dog Haus Biergarten Pub and Café on Green Street, a block east of Raymond.
Astronomers spoke to a mostly standing audience, because chairs were much fewer than people. The screen was small and blocked from most of our views, but it didn’t matter because the speakers were hard to hear in the commotion. Mostly a young crowd of Caltech students, at least 200 of them, behaved pleasantly, considering the crowded conditions. They seemed happy to be out of classrooms and laboratories for an evening of fun.
The astronomers hope to continue these events about once a month, but no dates were given. Check their website for future notices.
