A new art‑driven landscape installation is turning heads in Playhouse Village, where The Planetary Society has unveiled a striking outdoor environment designed to spark curiosity about worlds both familiar and far‑flung.

Made possible through support from the Pasadena Methodist Foundation, the project reimagines the space surrounding the organization’s Pasadena headquarters. Landscape designer Arturo Jimenez, working in collaboration with Green Splendor Designs, crafted the installation to encourage pedestrians to pause, reflect, and engage with the spirit of exploration that defines the Society’s mission.
The design draws visual inspiration from two planets at once: the red rocks and windswept sands of Mars, and the vivid, life‑filled palette of Earth. The result is a landscape where sky, land, and imagination intersect, a symbolic meeting point between what humanity knows and what it has yet to discover.
Located in the heart of Playhouse Village, The Planetary Society is a public organization dedicated to empowering people around the world to advance space science and exploration. The new installation extends that mission outdoors, offering a daily reminder of the beauty and mystery of the cosmos.
