On Friday, June 13, 2023, at approximately 5:30 am, Pasadena Fire responded to a call reporting an exterior fire at the DaVita Dialysis center (390 S. Fair Oaks Avenue).

At the time of the fire there were approximately 22 people inside of the center, many in the middle of dialysis treatment. All patients were evacuated by Pasadena Police, and there were no injuries reported.
Dialysis staff and fire personnel continued to assess the patients during the short time they were outdoors. Surveillance video showed a woman setting fire to a large locked storage area of the structure. As a result of the arson, a natural gas main was damaged and enhanced the fire effects.
Later that morning. the suspect on video was identified as Johanna Romo of Pasadena. PPD officers located Romo at Memorial Park around 10 pm, the evening of June 16th. Romo was wearing clothing identical to that of the female suspect in the surveillance video.
