Arroyo Seco Library’s Neighborhood Walk Turns Highland Park into a Postcard

L.A.’s Arroyo Seco Regional Library is introducing a new kind of “taking a walk” this summer, on Thursday, July 16, at 6:00 pm.

Arroyo Seco Regional Library is inviting neighbors to take an evening stroll through the heart of the community, one that’s about more than just getting some exercise. The mission: capture the iconic images that define Highland Park’s corner of Los Angeles.

Participants will follow a scenic loop through the neighborhood, stopping along the way to snap “postcard-worthy” photos of local landmarks. In the spirit of a staycation, the idea is that by playing tourist in a place you may have come to take for granted, you might discover something new—and deepen your connection to the neighborhood.

The free event begins with a gathering in the library foyer just before 6:00 pm. Wear comfortable shoes, bring your phone or camera, and come with fresh eyes. Since the walk takes place in the early evening, participants may also want to bring a bottle of water and make sure their phone or camera is fully charged. The softer summer light around sunset can make for especially beautiful photographs.

Whether you’re an avid photographer or simply looking for a new way to experience your neighborhood, the walk offers a chance to slow down, notice the details, and see Highland Park from a fresh perspective.
