Angelina Yip took her Oath of Office on Aug. 25, 2026, becoming the Alhambra Unified School District’s third-ever Student Board Member and the first from Mark Keppel High School.

Kevin Tang also took his Oath of Office as Student Board Member Alternate. Both students have served on AUSD’s Student Advisory Council for four years. Tang has held numerous leadership roles through SAC and at San Gabriel High School. As Student Board Member Alternate, he will also serve as SAC vice chairperson.
A Mark Keppel senior, Yip will chair the council, which includes 12 elected students representing AUSD’s three high schools. She has advocated for student well-being, course access, school policies and greater student involvement, and helped launch a student panel supporting eighth graders as they transition to high school.
As Student Board Member, Yip hopes to make district information more accessible and expand opportunities for students to share their experiences and ideas.
“One of the greatest privileges of my role is watching students grow into confident leaders, and Angelina is a
wonderful example of that journey,” said Superintendent Dr. Denise R. Jaramillo. “She has earned the respect
of her peers and our district leaders through her thoughtful leadership, collaborative spirit, and genuine
commitment to serving others. I know she will continue to represent the voices of our students with integrity
and purpose, and we are excited to welcome her as our student board member.”
