We told you yesterday (Friday) that all facilities in the Angeles National Forest were closed to avoid gatherings but that hikers and bikers were being encouraged to use the trails as individuals or small groups to stay healthy.

My observation is that, though they got the first part of the message, our local nature lovers hadn’t got the second. At seven o’clock today (Saturday) I stood on one of the peaks in the La Cañada Flintridge Conservancy trails system with a 360-degree view and saw no one else. No one.
This at a time of week when this network is usually busy with not just lone hikers like me but also people being pulled on by a dog, people being pulled on by two dogs, and small groups of people chatting non-stop, and high-speed bikers scaring both people and dogs.
It would a pity if the responsible campaign against traveling discouraged folks from getting the benefits of our marvelous outdoors.

These hills need a serious rest.
The county multi-use trails are indeed closed to hikers and bikers. https://parks.lacounty.gov/covid-19-032320/
