It only took one downpour and this slope in the Angeles National Forest near La Cañada that has gone all winter bare, parched and ugly burst into life with bright green foliage.

Out hiking this morning it made me think of a Lorenz Hart song that made fun of theatergoers whose lives were confined to the pavements of Manhattan:
