San Gabriel residents can request that the City plant a street tree in the parkway in front of their residence, for free, if they do not currently have a tree in front of their property.

All the City asks is that the residents be willing to water the tree in order to facilitate its establishment. The City of San Gabriel Urban Forest crew will go out and do all the routine pruning on the tree for the life of that tree.
In February 1991, the San Gabriel City Council enacted a tree ordinance intended to protect and preserve trees in the single family residential and commercial zones of the City. This ordinance protects mature City trees that make the City look and feel more beautiful, while increasing property values.
