Alhambra Police officers responding just after midnight to the 700 block of S. Almansor St. encountered a rapidly developing situation after a witness reported a loud noise and a suspicious man walking in the area.

      By News Desk

Upon arrival, officers spotted a man matching the description. He immediately bolted through a nearby apartment complex, triggering a search of the surrounding property.

Officers canvassed the area and soon found the suspect hiding in front of a parked vehicle inside a carport, a choice police dryly noted “is better suited for covering cars than hiding wanted suspects.”

During the detention, officers identified the man as Omar Rubio of Los Angeles. Detectives had previously named Rubio as the suspect in a recent carjacking connected to an Amber Alert and had already secured an arrest warrant.
