The long vacant location, formerly known as OSH, will some day very soon be our very own Amazon Fresh!
By Jerry Friedman
Although you can see the signage from Colorado Boulevard, there has been no announced opening date, which is typical for the tight-lipped Amazon organization.
With over 41,000 square feet of shopping convenience at this new location, the competition between grocery stores in East Pasadena will undoubtably intensify. Amazon will reportedly be offering a full selection of liquor (watch out Liquor Mart) for off-site consumption and is poised to become a date night destination with “on-sight, instructional tasting”.
Amazon brings many changes with it. It will challenge other long-standing local businesses and offer some employment as well. To paraphrase an old saying; ‘When one grocery store opens, another closes…’ Amazon bought Whole Foods in 2017 for around 13.7 billion. There is a Whole Foods Market among the many large markets which are minutes away from this new Amazon Fresh location. It remains to be seen how sustainable that will end up being.

amazon TRASH
I can’t imagine anyone beating Super King. It’s on the other side of town from us, but SO worth the drive. Great store.
I will NEVER knowingly spend money at any Amazon business. The last time I went past the old OSH site on Colorado Blvd. there seemed to be no activity there. I hope that there are enough people in this area who feel as I do to make this store a short lived venture. And I miss Orchard Supply Hardware which was a store I bought from often. That is why I also have Lowes stores on my boycott list.
Boycott list? How do you even shop these days?
