Altadena Welcomes New Village Post Office at Webster’s Pharmacy

In a meaningful step toward community restoration, Supervisor Kathryn Barger joined local leaders and residents Wednesday morning to officially open the new Village Post Office inside Webster’s Community Pharmacy at 2333 Lake Avenue.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held in partnership with the Altadena Recovery and Rebuild Corporation (ARRC) and the U.S. Postal Service, marked the debut of a much-needed satellite postal facility. The new site offers essential services, including mail and package drop-offs and the sale of Forever Stamps, resources lost when the main Altadena Post Office was destroyed in the Eaton Fire.

“Today’s grand opening is more than the return of postal services, it’s another step towards cultivating hope and a sense of normalcy,” said Supervisor Barger, standing alongside Cipriano Corona, District Manager for the U.S. Postal Service; Manny Abascal, ARRC Board Member; Meredith Miller, owner of Webster’s Community Pharmacy; and other officials.

Victoria Knapp, Chair of the Altadena Town Council, described the event as “a first step in the healing and recovery of Altadena.” Vice Chair Nic Arnzen echoed her sentiment, calling it “a monumental day.” “Moments like this become part of Altadena’s living history,” said Veronica Jones, President of the Altadena Historical Society.

Community members gathered at Chase Plaza to celebrate the occasion, collecting commemorative Altadena postcards and lining up to use the new post office counter. In a symbolic first transaction, Miles Kealing, a representative from Assemblymember John Harabedian’s office, and Victoria Knapp each mailed an envelope, demonstrating that the facility was officially open and fully operational.

With media in attendance and a steady buzz of activity, the new Village Post Office is poised to become a vital hub for residents and businesses rebuilding in the area. As Meredith Miller observed, “This is more than just a counter. It’s a cornerstone of community restoration.”
