“Can We Get Along: The Segregation of John Muir High School”, a 7-year effort with a modest budget mainly financed by small contributions from Pasadena public school alumni, was first submitted as a short in 2019 to various festivals, and garnered awards. In Sept. 2022 PBS SoCal and KCET premiered a feature-length version of the film and it became one of the most watched and streamed independent programs of the season.
Building upon its public broadcasting success, the film is now in contention for a local Emmy Award.
