      This summer promises to be a great time for jazz lovers all over the San Gabriel Valley.

      With Pasadena getting the distinction of having the most jazz events, here’s the list of all the jazz music happening in the greater Pasadena area.

      – Concerts in the Park – Pasadena

      Saturday, July 7 at 5:30 pm
      Jazz it Up!
      This is part of Parks After Dark.

      Location
      Washington Park, Pasadena.

      Ο Ο Ο

      – Farnsworth Summer Concert Series – Altadena

      Every Saturday at 7:00 pm (until September 8, excluding Labor Day Weekend).
      This weekend, the concert series kicks off with Kenny Sara & the Sounds of New Orleans, a four piece band that plays New Orleans based music ranging from New Orleans Jazz and straight ahead Jazz to New Orleans R&B, 70′s & 80′s funk.

      – Playhouse District Summer Jazz Concert – Pasadena

      Every Sunday at 5:00 pm (until August 26).

      The first band to play at this wonderful jazz concert is Elliott Caine Quintet. Inspired by ’60’s “Blue Note” style jazz, as well as by the music of Tito Puente and Mongo Santamaria, The Elliott Caine Sextet plays original compositions, as well as the works of Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley, Donald Byrd, et al.

      – Jazz Vespers – Pasadena

      Sunday, July 15 at 5:00 pm

      Barbara Morrison headlines the last of the Jazz vespers of the season. Barbara Morrison has been performing with Jack Hale, a popular So. Cal master guitarist/ arranger/ band leader of cool and hot vintage jazz and swing styles from the 1920s through 1950s.

      – San Gabriel Jazz Summer Nights – San Gabriel City

      Thursdays at 6:30 pm (until August 23).

      The jazz continues at Summer Nights on July 26th with Yuko Mabuchi Trio and on August 23 with Kiki Ebsen and the Jeff Colella Quartet finishing the season.
