Alhambra police officers conducting a traffic stop near Valley Boulevard and the 710 Freeway discovered approximately 200 kilograms of cocaine inside an SUV, according to the police department.

The driver, identified as Julio Rangel of Huntington Park, initially told officers he was heading home from his cousin’s house and that the boxes in the vehicle weren’t his. He later said he was transporting diesel parts to a shop owned by a friend.
K9 Otis and his handler responded to the scene. Otis alerted officers to the vehicle, and they found the cocaine inside.
Rangel was arrested and booked into the Alhambra Police Department jail.
