The Alhambra City Council installed Mayor Adele Andrade-Stadler and Vice Mayor Ross Maza during its reorganization meeting Monday, Aug. 24.

The ceremony, titled “Reorganization of the Alhambra City Council,” took place during the council’s regular meeting in the City Hall Council Chambers at 111 S. First St. The meeting also included updates on city business and gave residents an opportunity to engage with local leaders about community matters.
Andrade-Stadler and Maza will begin their new leadership roles while continuing to serve the Alhambra community. Both are running for reelection, with Maza running unopposed.
Since 1984, Alhambra’s City Council members have been elected by district. The council has five members, each elected to a four-year term. Under the city’s rotating leadership system, council members take turns serving as mayor for approximately nine months.
Similar rotating-mayor systems are used in the neighboring cities of San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Sierra Madre.
