Kidspace Children’s Museum is offering a flurry of programs starting September 17.

The fun kicks off with the “Mighty Build Guild” on September 17, a lively construction crew of builders, stackers, and designers of all ages. Children and their families are invited to create marvelous geometric towers, design cardboard critters, and play and explore in a whimsical cardboard arroyo, which showcases a fantastical cardboard flying machine created by Los Angeles artist, Wayne White.

You might be surprised to find just how much you enjoy learning about snakes in the Nature Exchange during their Sensational Snakes exhibition, which features hands-on props and interactive experiences to explore how snake jaws are designed to swallow large prey, how rattles work, and how snakes use their scutes (don’t know what a scute is? You will!). You can interact with a life-sized snake puppet to learn more about snakes, and even meet a real snake up close during our daily Animal Encounters.

Feeling inspired? Your family can register for a free family program in the Imagination Workshop to build a cardboard snake puppet and explore concepts of anatomy, movement, and character design. Then, take your snake puppet home with you to continue the fun.

“We’re excited to finally begin to open our indoor galleries for families,” said Chief Executive Officer Lisa Clements. “We are celebrating with special exhibits and programs that are new to Kidspace, alongside beloved features such as the Ant Tunnel and the Dino Dig area.”

All activities are included with general admission of $14.95 for adults and children over the age of 1. Tickets must be reserved online.

In order to allow for social distancing and protect the safety of visitors and staff, availability of indoor spaces is subject to capacity. Some exhibits, including indoor climbing towers, remain closed in compliance with health and safety guidelines.
