Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger is highlighting a new $3 million federal funding effort aimed at helping homeowners recover from the devastating Eaton Fire.

The funding, announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development, will be distributed through the Section 504 Single Family Housing Repair Program. The Disaster Assistance Grants are designed to support residents whose homes were damaged by the fire, particularly in the Altadena area.
Eligible homeowners may receive up to $32,420 per household to cover essential repairs. These funds can be used to address disaster-related damage, restore safe living conditions, and assist with necessary site preparation and cleanup.
According to Bryan Anguiano, the agency moved quickly to waive standard eligibility requirements—allowing Altadena, which typically falls outside USDA Rural Development criteria, to qualify for assistance. He emphasized that the funding is expected to help 92 homeowners begin restoring their properties to safe and livable conditions.
Barger praised the federal government’s flexibility and responsiveness, noting that the investment will play a critical role in helping families rebuild both their homes and their lives. She also pointed to recent collaboration across federal, state, and local levels as a key factor in securing timely support for impacted communities.
The announcement underscores a broader effort to provide targeted disaster relief following California wildfires, ensuring that communities like Altadena receive the resources needed to recover and rebuild.
Residents seeking more information about eligibility and application procedures are encouraged to consult the program’s official fact sheet.
