        24/7 Closures Coming to Key Pasadena Intersections During BRT Construction

      Major construction activity for the North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is set to begin the week of April 13, 2026, bringing significant traffic and pedestrian impacts to two busy Pasadena intersections: Colorado Boulevard at Lake Avenue, and Holly Street at Arroyo Parkway.

      Work will occur Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, with several closures remaining in place around the clock until each phase is complete.

      – Stage 1: Southwest Corner of Colorado Blvd. & Lake Ave. (Approx. 3 Weeks)

      Colorado Blvd.

      • Right turns onto Lake Ave. will be prohibited.
      • Sidewalk on the south side of Colorado Blvd. between Hudson Ave. and Lake Ave. will be closed.

      Lake Ave.

      • Southbound lane reductions from Union St. through the Colorado Blvd. intersection.
      • Right turns onto Market Alley and Colorado Blvd. will remain open.
      • Sidewalk closure on the southwest corner of Colorado Blvd. and Lake Ave.

      Holly St.

      • Westbound Holly St. closed between Arroyo Pkwy. and Raymond Ave.
      • Access to Holly St. available via Arroyo Pkwy., Union St., and Raymond Ave.
      • Sidewalk on the north side of Holly St. between Arroyo Pkwy. and Marengo Ave. closed; pedestrians will be directed to the opposite side.

      Arroyo Pkwy.

      • Left turns onto Holly St. will be prohibited.

      All closures for Stage 1 will remain in place 24/7 until work is completed.

      – Stage 2: Southeast Corner of Colorado Blvd. & Lake Ave. (Approx. 6 Weeks)

      Colorado Blvd.

      • Westbound reduced to a single lane between Catalina Ave. and Hudson Ave.
      • Eastbound reduced to a single lane between Hudson Ave. and Mentor Ave.
      • Sidewalk closure on the south side of Colorado Blvd. between Lake Ave. and Mentor Ave.

      Lake Ave.

      • Northbound lane reductions from Green St. to Colorado Blvd.
      • Right turns onto Colorado Blvd. will be prohibited.

      Holly St.

      • Westbound Holly St. closed between Marengo Ave. and Raymond Ave.
      • Detours will direct drivers to Marengo Ave. or Arroyo Pkwy., then Union St. and Raymond Ave. to return to Holly St.
      • Sidewalk closure on the south side of Holly St. between Arroyo Pkwy. and Marengo Ave.

      Arroyo Pkwy. & Marengo Ave.

      • Left turns onto Holly St. will be prohibited.

      As with Stage 1, all closures will remain in place 24/7 until construction is complete.

      The work marks a major step forward for the BRT project, which aims to improve regional transit connectivity. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to plan ahead, expect delays, and follow posted detours throughout the construction period.
